Don’t guard your heart

You can put a cage around your heart so that no thief would break in

Or you can make it a garden for whoever wishes to love and be loved,

As long as they do not pluck your flowers.

You can resist what brings 7 billion human beings to their knees

Or you can bask in what makes them feel like they’re on cloud nine.

The choice is yours;

To live in your wounds and fears,

To question and doubt everyone standing at the gates of your heart

Or let in whoever proves deserving.

It hurts enormously

Because it is the world’s greatest pleasure,

Don’t hold yourself back from it

Because while it will create flames inside you

It will also plant flowers within you

Do not protect or guard your heart by not accepting the greatest of blessings.
